Central Wins District Cat Fight

Entering the contest tied with San Angelo Central for fourth place in district, the Lady Panthers took the visiting Bobcats to four sets before falling 25-18, 20-25, 25-22, 25-20 on Wednesday in the Permian Fieldhouse.

   

Central jumped out to a quick lead and claimed the first set 25-18.  Permian answered with a  convincing 25-20 second set win when Jade Workman sparked a five-point run.  The momentum carried over into the third set until the Lady Bobcats rallied from a 21-13 deficit to claim a 25-22 win.  The Lady Panthers trailed most of the final fourth set.

 

Workman led Permian with 12 kills, while Nyxalee Munoz finished with five. Bethani Fierro, Anahi Orona, and Sarahi Orona each recorded three kills.  Denali Cardenas contributed 16 assists and Workman added nine.  Fierro was credited with a solid five blocks.

   

Anyssa Cruz led Permian’s effort with 22 digs.  Workman finished with 20 and Iliana Garcia with 18.  Natalia Abila and Cardenas recorded 15 and 14 digs respectively.  Workman cranked out four aces, with Cruz and Cardenas serving up two each.

 

The three-game week will continue on Friday with Mojo hosting Frenship on Friday.  A make-up road trip to Abilene High will follow on Saturday.
