Lady Panthers Top Monahans

Permian got off to a sluggish start before collecting three straight sets to defeat Monahans 13-25, 25-15, 25-9, 25-14 in the Jerry Larned Sports Complex on Tuesday.

   

In the opening set, Permian made a match of it but could not get the upper hand.  The Lady Panthers turned things around in the second set and settled in to their tempo of play.  Jade Workman led all scorers with 17 kills, while Nyxalee Munoz followed with 11.  Denali Cardenas topped the stat sheet with 24 assists.  Workman finished with 15 assists.

   

Anyssa Cruz and Cardenas shared top honors in defensive digs with 13 each.  Munoz backed them up with 10 digs of her own.  Mojo jumped out to a 13-4 lead in the second set with the Lady Loboes scrambling to get back in the match.  The two teams would battle to a 21-13 deficit before Permian put the set in its pocket to even the score at 1-1.

 

In the third set, it was all Mojo as the Lady Panthers rolled to a 25-9 match win.  The fourth set would be dominated by Permian as the girls rolled to a 25-14 victory to take the 3-to-1 win. The Lady Panthers improve their season record to 17-7.  Permian will play host to Presidio at the PHS Fieldhouse on Friday, September 3.
