Mojo Tops Abilene In Busy Week

Finishing off a three-game week, Permian slapped a mark in the win column after a lengthy battle in Abilene.  It took five sets (17-25, 25-15, 24-26, 25-19, 16-14) but the Lady Panthers claimed a  district road victory over Abilene High on Saturday.

   

Freshman Jade Workman had a busy afternoon, finishing with 16 kills, 15 assists, 10 digs, and two aces to lead Mojo to the win.  Junior Nyxalee Munoz turned in nine kills, followed by Anahi and Sarahi Orona with five each.  Bethani Fierro and Denali Cardenas recorded four kills each.  Cardenas led the team with 17 assists, and Fierro had two blocks.

   

Natalia Abila dished out an impressive 25 digs.  Iliana Garcia was credited with 14 digs, followed by Anyssa Cruz with 13 and Cardenas with 11.  The 5’5″ junior also served up eight aces, and Abila added three.

 

Permian will make the drive across town for another District 2-6A meeting with Odessa High on Friday.  With three district matches remaining, the Lady Panthers are just a game out in the current standings for qualifying for post-season action.  Mojo will visit Midland Lee on November 10, and then host Midland High at the PHS Fieldhouse on November 13.
