Strong District Finish For Mojo

Odessa, TX – Permian dominated Odessa High in straight sets on Senior Night, while Jade Workman reached the one thousand milestone in kills.  Mojo defeated OHS (25-9, 25-19, 25-7) to close out the District 2-6A slate at the PHS Fieldhouse.

Workman, a junior, led the Black Cats with 13 kills, 18 assists, three digs, and a serving ace.  Cianna Harris finished with 10 kills, while Iliana Garcia led in digs with 13.  Layny Brown also recorded 18 assists in the crosstown victory.

The Lady Panthers claimed the three-set win in convincing style.  All three sets were controlled by Permian, with Mojo maintaining a sizeable buffer.  After jumping out to a 25-9 first set advantage, the Lady Panthers watched Odessa High try to get back in the contest in the second set.  The Lady Bronchos put their best effort toward evening the match, but the Black Cats kept the Lady Bronchos at bay in a 25-19 decision.

The final set mirrored the first set as Mojo dished out a 25-7 lashing to end the contest.  Workman and the team celebrated her reaching the 1,000 kills milestone.

Permian, finishing the district just one game behind Midland Legacy, will now turn its focus to the state playoffs.  The Lady Panthers (8-2, 31-9) will host El Paso Montwood (10-6, 21-10) on Tuesday, November 1 at 5:30 p.m. in the Bi-District Round.
