Season Ends As Area Finalists

Abilene, TX – The Mojo 2022 playoff campaign came to an end after falling to Southlake Carroll in straight sets (25-21, 25-18, 25-18) at the Abilene Cooper Gymnasium on Friday evening.  Permian ends the season as Class 6A Area Finalists.

Jade Workman led Permian by recording 10 kills, eight assists, three digs, a block and an ace.  Cianna Harris finished with seven kills and Anahi Orona had four.  Sarahi Orona led in digs with seven, followed by Anahi with six.  Layny Brown contributed 12 assists in the final match of the season.

The Lady Panthers opened the contest matching the Metroplex representatives point for point.  After exchanging blistering bombs with the Lady Dragons, Mojo watched Carroll gain the advantage late in the first set to fall 25-21.  Carroll built a slight lead in the second set, but Permian stayed resilient.  The Lady Panthers would close the deficit, then the Dragons would mount short runs to keep Mojo from gaining the upper hand.

Carroll controlled the second and third sets just enough to prevent Permian from turning the momentum.  Each set ended in a 25-18 decision to halt the Mojo playoff run.  While the defeat ends the 2022 season, the Lady Panthers should be proud of the achievements and successes of the year.  There are several positives to build on.

Of the 2-6A teams, Permian (32-10) went one round deeper in the state playoffs than any of the other district teams.  Mojo also came up just one game shy of claiming a district championship title.
