Second Place At Godley

Godley, TX – The Lady Panthers rolled through pool play before battling in a close championship match with the tourney’s  host.  Permian finished Second Place in the Godley Tournament over the weekend.

Pool play began on Friday with the Lady Panthers picking three wins over Mansfield Timberview (25-16, 25-18), Young Women’s Leadership Academy (25-11, 25-14), and Alvarado (25-8, 25-10). After the three wins in Pool D, Permian would enter the Gold Bracket of the tournament.

On Saturday, Mojo opened with Fort Worth Paschal and advanced by winning two of three sets (15-25, 25-15, 25-13).  Permian met Mansfield Timberview in second round and also came out victorious (12-25, 25-21, 25-21) to setup a championship meeting with tourney host Godley.

The Lady Panthers won the first set of the finals 25-20.  The second set provided several lead changes with Godley edging out a 25-23 win to knot the match at one game a piece.  In the third and decisive set, both teams gave their best efforts.  In another back-and-forth affair, it would be the Lady Wildcats squeaking out a 25-23 advantage to win the Final, 2-1.  Permian finishes the tournament as Second Place recipients.

The Godley trip concluded varsity tournament participation for the remainder of the 2022 schedule.  All four of Permian’s volleyball teams will be back at home on Tuesday, as they will be hosting Monahans in a non-district meeting.
