Tourney Champs In Monahans

Monahans, TX – The Lady Panthers opened the 2023 season racking up six wins en route to claiming the Monahans Volleyball Tournament Gold Bracket Championship over the weekend.

Pool play began on Friday with the Lady Panthers picking three wins over Fort Stockton (25-17, 25-12), Fabens (25-9, 25-12), and Amarillo Palo Duro (25-16, 24-26. 25-18). After remaining undefeated and rolling through ‘Pool B’, Permian would enter the tournament Gold Bracket.

 

Mojo opened with a tough Denver City team on Saturday morning.  After battling through a close (23-25) opening set, the Lady Panthers advanced by winning the next two (25-18, 25-17).  Permian met Midland Greenwood in second round and also came out victorious (18-25, 25-13, 25-19) to setup a championship meeting with tourney host Monahans.

   

Riding the day’s momentum, the Lady Panthers won both sets (25-15, 25-14) to come away with the tournament title.  Three Permian players received All-Tournament recognition, including Ariyana Garcia, Mylah Arzaga (Outstanding Setter), and Jade Workman (Most Valuable).

  

The Lady Panthers will travel to Andrews next Tuesday before jumping back into tournament action next weekend.  The Varsity will travel east for the Granbury Tourney, while JV White and JV Black will be in Abilene.

Jr Varsity was 1-1 in Monahans Tourney ‘Pool D’.

JV Black went 2-1 in Lubbock ISD Tourney.
